Saturday Dec 27 8 am to 1 pm

When are my taxes due?
Your entire tax amount, or your 1st installment, is due by January 31st to the Town of Elk. If you choose to pay in installments, your 1st installment is due to the Town of Elk by January 31, and the 2nd installment is due to Price County by July 31. If you fail to pay the correct amount, by the correct time, to the correct place it could cause you to incur interest/penalty
charges.

What happens if I pay late?

By State law, if you fail to pay the entire amount of your first installment by January 31, 2026 then the option to pay in installments is no longer available.  The entire balance then becomes due and will accrue interest and penalty at a rate of 1.5% per month until the delinquent amount is paid in full.

Where do I pay?

All payments made on or before January 31, 2026, must be paid to:

Town of Elk Treasurer

N8314 Danish Settlement Rd

Phillips, WI 54555

Payments made after February 2, 2026, must be paid to:

Price County Treasurer

126 Cherry Street, Rm 106

Phillips, WI 54555

How can I get a receipt?

Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with your payment stub and payment. You can also request one in person at the Town Hall.  If you paid online, print your receipt from the web site. https://records.co.price.wi.us/Access/master.asp

What if I can’t pay my entire 1st installment amount?

We encourage everyone to try and pay at least the amount of their first installment to avoid interest and penalty, it is in your best interest to pay as much as you can by the due date.  Continuing to make monthly payments until your entire balance is paid in full will help to reduce the amount of interest and penalty you will pay and, reduce the risk of losing your property.

Where is my refund?

Refunds are issued after tax is paid in full. Cash refunds are not given. Refund checks will be issued to whomever paid the tax bill after the check has cleared all banks.

When am I eligible for a Lottery Credit?

If this property was your primary residence on January 1, 2025, please check your tax bill to verify you received this credit. If you do not see it, you can still apply for one at the Town Hall BEFORE January 31, 2026. Remember, you may only have one credit.
